The Story So Far

    Erasmus Whitegaze is a halfling wizard from the kingdom of Elnealin. When he came of age (at the age of 33, naturally), he made the decision to journey to the abbey of Yggdrasil to learn the ways of magic. Since time immemorial, halflings have dwelt in the abbey, drawn away from their homes to the seclusion and peace of the grounds in the northern Neverwinter Wood to pursue a life of contemplation and training in the divine arts.

    Shortly after Erasmus completed his novitiate, an army of Drow led by the evil wizard Jaezrann descended upon the abbey in such numbers that the halflings were forced to flee from the grounds of the abbey into the forest. When they returned the following day, the abbey was in ruins. Since then, the formerly insular halflings have taken on exploration, adventuring, and mercenary work in order to raise the funds to rebuild their abbey.

Though Erasmus is still relatively young (and just a level 1 wizard) he is eager to journey into the great unknown to discover what the Drow were after when they ransacked the abbey and to track down Jaezrann before he can bring whatever evil plan he has to fruition.

     Erasmus, halfling wizard, has set off on a journey of adventure and discovery! His first stop is Goldcrest, a town 12 miles east of the grounds of the abbey. Here, Erasmus hopes to find someone who can craft a wizard's staff with an orb at the end that he can use for attunement. He also hopes to find out more information about Jaezrann, though the Drow are a mysterious race and their leader is reported to be very enigmatic.  September 15 Approaching Goldcrest from the south, Erasmus seems to have missed the main city entrance. Instead of the broad, well-maintained streets he was expecting, his first experience inside the city involved strolling down a cramped alleyway festooned with orange and green banners. Looking up, he noticed that on the second floor of the buildings that line this alley, elevated walkways have been constructed that run parallel to the street, evidently to obviscate the need to use the alleyway for travel at all. Welcome to the Adventures of Erasmus Whitegaze

 Welcome to the adventures of Erasmus Whitegaze, halfing wizard!  Look at his majesty! I made him on Heroforge! A little bit about me. I started playing solo roleplaying games at the beginning of August 2022, largely inspired by The Adventures of Konrad . I loved the idea of creating a story based on nothing but a character sheet, some random tables, and imagination, and so I thought I'd try it myself. At first, I thought I would do everything analog--I would buy paper books, print out PDFs, and compose my journal in notebooks. But I like to roleplay in comfort. I sit in my recliner and put a lap desk on my lap. It doesn't leave a lot of room for tons of books and binders. So instead I compromised with myself and used my iPad for books, but still keep the notebook journal. But then I found myself not writing as much as I wanted to because of hand fatigue--I just don't write longhand that much anymore. Chapter Two - At the Sign of the Frog and Buttock

All of the images henceforth are generated with Craiyon--I think it fits well with the random, procedural nature of the narrative. "Tavern door at night" Erasmus enters The Frog and Buttock just as night is starting to fall in Goldcrest. Behind the heavy oak door the, almost-too-warm atmosphere of the tavern and the sound of laughter peels away some of the lonelyness he’s been feeling. Inside the common room, there are three fires burning--one in the center of the room vented up through the roof, as well as smaller fires on the east and west walls. Each attracts its own crowd of patrons. Behind the bar, a dwarf standing on a platform running the length of the back wall polishes a drink and eyes the wizard darkly.  "Dwarf bartender" AI still has trouble with eyes. “No animals,” he says, looking at the rat in disgust.
